TMC Manual Project

Thanks to a kind benefactor, I've been loaned a huge stash of original TMC manuals. The objective of this project is to scan nearly all of the unique manuals and put them online for general use. Some of the manuals are for equipment that is fairly commonly collected, and for those the objective is to create high-quality printed versions, or high quality scans on a CD.

This site is under construction at this time. As things progress, I'll add manual scans and other data. Your suggestions and advice on how to proceed would be most welcome! In particular, if you have any suggestions on how best to organize the data, let me know.

For now, I've completed an initial inventory of the documents, which you can download as an Microsoft Xcel spreadsheet. The link below a list of the items found in each of 25 boxes, so basically in somewhat random order.

The next link may be more useful for searches, as it is sorted by TMC equipment type designation. The lines with gray texture are documents I'm planning to scan and add to this repository. If you see any documents that aren't highlighted that you'd like me to add, please send me email at:

As of 7/3/09 I've scanned the manuals from 3 of the 25 boxes, fora total of about 811 MB of data. I elected to do the scans at 400 DPI, 16-bit grayscale, LZW compression. They're written out as multi-page PDF's, and I've taken the tack of writing the entire manual into a single file (with a very few exceptions), rather than breaking it into pieces. So.. download times may be long.

Here are some intial examples of manual scans. Please have a look at them. Send me your comments on format, quality and so forth. I doubt I can do a lot better on scan quality and get this job done in one lifetime, but will consider seriously any suggestions you may have.
